ZGF Scholarship Program
Since 2004, ZGF has awarded a total of $120,000 in scholarships to qualified students across the country. Established in memory of ZGF founding partner Norm Zimmer, the ZGF Scholarship program began with a local purview promoting the scholarship to schools near ZGF office locations. It has evolved nationwide and today is offered to programs across the U.S. Administered by the Oregon Community Foundation of Oregon, the mission of the scholarship—to recognize and support students who demonstrate a talent and passion for architecture, interior design, and urban planning —echoes ZGF’s commitment to mentor and foster the next generation of exceptional design talent.
How It Works
Each spring, ZGF selects one recipient to receive a $10,000 scholarship to be applied to their final year of school and a paid summer internship opportunity in one of the ZGF’s five U.S. office locations. The internship has a flexible start date and location and is based on the current workload.
Students beginning their final year in an accredited program—enrolled in the fifth year of an undergraduate degree or master’s program in architecture (NAAB), interior design (CIDA), urban planning (PAB), or landscape architecture (LAAB)—in the fall of 2019 and graduating in 2020, and who currently reside in the United States, are eligible to apply.
Our design services encompass a wide variety of disciplines and specialties, including architecture, interior design, master planning, urban design and fabrication, each with a focus on sustainability. ZGF offers these services in tandem with landscape architecture, graphic design and more to create projects that reflect a deep understanding of our clients’ mission, values, and aspirations. At the same time, we strive to create spaces that respond to the site’s environmental, physical, and cultural context. Scroll down to learn more about a particular service.
ZGF’s diverse design portfolio includes new construction, renovations, and additions at every scale, across the nation and around the world. The outcome of every project is specific and unique, reflecting a deep understanding of the client’s mission and aspirations, and responding to the site’s environmental, physical and cultural context.
ZGF has been instrumental in planning and policy-making that have provided the framework for significant public and private investment in communities across the globe. Inherent in our approach is the creation of master plans based in reality that derives from the particular vision, culture and strategic goals of the client.
The instinct to build community is fundamental to ZGF’s practice. Placemaking is a hallmark of our work—we craft beautiful spaces that function as the connective tissue promoting human interaction, productivity, and quality of life.
Landscape architecture at ZGF is practiced as an extension of our community building and urban design. It is another means to integrate the design vision at the district and building level and implement it at all scales— from parks and streetscapes to healing gardens.
