Interior and Exterior Design

who we are

GoodHome Painting Co. is, at heart, an old-fashioned company that looks to pre-20th century Europe, where housepainters belonged to a strictly guarded and regulated guild of learned craftsmen. It’s our regard for this bygone era of proud craftsmanship combined with our obsession for service and value that truly defines who we are.

We paint for tomorrow. We cherish the trust our clients afford us with referrals and future work. As this moving target never ends, nor does our ambition to improve every aspect of our service. This is made possible, in part, by bringing together our craftsmen on a full-time, long-term, profit-sharing basis. Our continued success flows directly from this home-grown commitment to our craftsmen.

Our value to you is only as good as the value we provide. When estimating projects, we discuss all options; every detail is considered and there are no surprises. We subscribe to the philosophy of a “baker’s dozen”: we give you thirteen muffins for the price of twelve … just in case.

Services

interior

We love interior painting. It’s where the details truly matter and are most appreciated. When we enter a home, our goal is to leave the smallest possible foot print —minimal disruption, lots of colour. We spend more time and money caring for our vacuums, drop sheets, plastic and protective tape than on brushes and rollers. Keeping your furniture, carpets, tile, baseboard heaters, door handles, electrical plates, etc. free of paint is just as important to us as laser-sharp paint lines. Moving through a household and placing colour only where it belongs is a delicate dance that we’ve enjoyed mastering.

  • Walls, ceilings & woodwork (baseboard, crown, casings)
  • Windows (wood, vinyl)
  • Doors (wood, aluminum)
  • Staining
  • Lacquer & polyurethane application
  • Kitchen cabinetry
  • Mantles, bookshelves & railing systems
  • Panelling and wainscotting
  • Garage floors (epoxy, urethanes)
  • De-texturise ceilings
  • Stripping and refinishing
  • Wallpaper removal and hanging
  • Drywall repairs

exterior

he inside of a home simply cannot match the looming, public exhibition that is the exterior of a home. We believe in “putting your best face forward” and that starts with a beautifully painted exterior that lasts at least a decade. Proper preparation is of the utmost importance for the home to weather the tests of Mother Nature, particularly in Vancouver.

  • Stucco, siding, shingles
  • Fascia and soffits
  • Brick, driveway and walkway sealing
  • Deck refinishing
  • Fences & railings (wrought iron, aluminum, wood)
  • Gutters
  • Power washing and mildew removal

new construction

Few things are more exciting then being a part of something new and improved and we understand the amount of orchestration that goes into building something from scratch. Preparing and painting a new structure gives us the rare opportunity to showcase our work in its purest form, unadulterated by previous paint crews.

commercial

Though the details may be fewer than in residential projects, the timelines are much more demanding. Racing to get your business open and operating is a thrilling challenge that we never shy away from.

restoration

Probably the most gratifying of projects: breathing new life into something old. Stripping, sanding, scraping are three activities that send shivers down the spines of most homeowners. Restoration is hard work, but nothing fantastic comes easy. As paint craftsmen, we are addicted to the transformative powers of painting and nothing thrills us more than seeing the end result of a restoration project.

ceiling de-texurisation

Nothing dates a home like textured ceilings, also known as “popcorn ceilings”. We are huge supporters of all things smooth and ceilings are no exception. Working alongside expert drywallers, we truly get excited upon seeing a room become brighter and somehow calmer upon completion.

cabinetry refinishing

If there is one architectural element that showcases paint’s alchemist powers, it’s cabinetry. Kitchens represent the heart of a home and, in the case of a house listed on the real estate market, the heart of a sale. We love saving homeowners thousands of dollars by utilizing a little paint and a lot of creativity.

History

At the beginning of the 20th century, the French Riviera was chosen as a destination by aristocracy from around the world discovering, what is undoubtedly, the most beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Enjoying a heritage of sumptuous palaces, dating mainly from the Belle Epoque era, the Riviera is today only two hours flight from most European capitals and, thanks to the Cannes International Film Festival and the visits of endless celebrities, has become the most sought after glamorous destination.

From the Italian Border to St. Tropez, without forgetting the Principality of Monaco, the French Riviera combines sophistication, modernity and natural beauty. Under the auspices of French Senator Pierre Laffitte, Sophia Antipolis, the largest European High Tech Park was developed, playing a strong economic role on the international stage. With significant infrastructure and political stability, the French Riviera continues to attract ever more visitors.

National and Regional Hotel Market potential
The second most important tourist destination in the world in terms of attendance, France has about 18,000 ranked hotels with 650,000 beds of which 950 hotels are in the 4 and 5 star luxury categories.

Paris is the prime destination in France, but the French Riviera comes a close second place with its coastal area, outstanding by virtue of its size and diversity.

The region alone accounts for about 2,000 hotels with 68,000 beds or 11 % of the national inventory. There is a greater density than the national average in the luxury category – 235 units including 85 five Star hotels or 32% of all five star hotels in France in 2013.

Carlton International estimates that 15% of the inventory is officially available for purchase for reasons ranging from retirement, to the end of the amortization of the business financing by owners who wish to invest in a larger facility or acquire the freehold asset. This implies the potential availability of 300 hotels in the “Provence” region, not counting tourism residences and other accommodation currently being developed as a hotel for sale, which includes properties such as guest houses and residential suites which compete with traditional hospitality structures.

Carlton International Hotel Investment Consulting Services

Carlton International is positioned in the residential real estate market place with a high net worth international clientele. The hotel investment consulting services department is naturally pointed towards the market for international institutional and private investors who practice real estate investment. Particular interest is shown in the Provence, French Riviera region, with an inventory estimated at 500 hotels of charm and luxury, including 3 star boutique hotels.

Luxury Real Estate Investment in Turkey

Owning a second home abroad is no longer a trend but well-deserved benefit of 21st-century life. With masses of countries allowing foreigners to purchase and live overseas, potential homeowners often want to know good reasons to buy property in Turkey. They are looking for answers to help them decide if this country is the best investment for their property portfolio as well as an ideal future destination if they plan to move out here.

For many years before 2000, Turkey’s property market was massively behind other countries in terms of modernization and innovation. The fault with this lay in the domestic market because mortgages weren’t available, and generations of families lived in the same house. Trained architects unable to find a market for their skills often went abroad.

However, all that changed at the turn of the century. Banks made mortgages a prominent factor of their portfolios, and the building sector embarked on a massive campaign to modernize and update housing.

Having sold property in Turkey for since 2003, we have seen many changes in the legal systems as well as the architecture and housing trends of new builds. All of them have been for the benefit of the buyer as well as a much-needed move into modernizing Turkey’s real estate market.

Reasons to Buy Property in Turkey

Buy property in Turkey

1: Housing is cheap compared to other countries

The real estate market of Turkey was late to enter the international market; hence the low prices of homes quickly attract foreigners from many different nationalities. Luxury properties are available, but in everyday towns like Altinkum on the Aegean coast, a 2-bedroom furnished apartment is quite easy to find for buyers with a budget of £45,000. Low prices have enabled many customers to buy the property outright without mortgages or bank credit.

2: The cost of living is low

For buyers living here, one reason for buying property in Turkey was the low cost of living. Pensioners are especially getting a good deal because the exchange rate from their currency into Turkish lira is netting them more than the average cost of living.

Although red meat and petrol are expensive, the weekly shop can turn out to be cheap if visiting the local markets for items such as fruit, vegetables, cheese and olives. Regarding household bills, there is no television license, the council tax is a minute fraction of what it is in the UK, and facilities such as water can cost as little as £7 a month depending on usage.

3: The food, culture and hospitality

Aside from the laid-back lifestyle and low cost of living, customers have also quoted the Turkish food, culture and hospitality as major reasons to buy property in Turkey. The cuisine still focuses heavily on fresh ingredients to make delicious home-cooked meals, and it is like a Mediterranean diet, often called the healthiest in the world.

Turkish culture and hospitality also embrace foreigners, and an age-old proverb says every stranger is a friend. The result is that many different nationalities feel welcome in the country and enjoy indulging in a new cuisine focused heavily on healthy eating.

4: The lifestyle is laid back

Thousands of Brits have already bought homes in Turkey, and although the low property prices are a big lure, the laidback lifestyle undoubtedly lures them here for the permanent living. Most prefer the coastal towns of the Aegean and Mediterranean so they can indulge in seaside living, but other places like the mountainous Uzumlu and inland towns of Ovacik and Hisaronu have also proved to be a hit.

5: There is a massive portfolio to tap into

The growth of the real estate market and recognition of talented architects has boosted the property portfolio of Turkey to an incredibly diverse status. Foreign buyers have extensive choices of budget and luxury, off plan, new build, resale, and renovation apartments and villas. From the basic and budget to luxury homes with sea views and all the latest modern amenities, such is the diversity; buyers do not have to compromise on their dream a home in the sun.

6: Location, location, location

Turkey is the 37th largest country in the world and a mass of towns scattered from the east to the west attract foreign buyers. Most settle on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts apart from Istanbul, which tends to attract working expats.

Popular places include the Bodrum peninsula, often visited by wealthy, international celebrities and Fethiye, that is particularly scenic. Altinkum has attracted British people thanks to its atmosphere nicknamed little Britain while Antalya is more European in its lifestyle approach. Dalaman is less spoken about however for the foreign property buyers there, it does feel like being at home.

7: Ideal for long-term investment

For those who are looking for a long-term investment, these prices have the potential to offer a lucrative return on investment. Experts often recommend that the real estate market is the best long-term investment to make, but buyers in Turkey have added advantages over other countries such as Spain or Cyprus, where property prices have already peaked. With annual maintenance and upkeep, a well looked after property in Turkey has a mass potential for return on long-term investment.

8: A simplified buying process

Foreigners were first able to buy property in 2001, and since then authorities have continually revised and simplified the process to attract investment in the housing market from overseas. Here at Spot Blue, we also check the paperwork of all properties to ensure they are legally in good standing. You can find more details about the process here, or alternatively, see our portfolio of property for sale across the country. Spot Blue office and location staff are here to walk you through every step of the process to owning your own home in Turkey.
